3 Day Wicklow Special
Dublin
From Extreme Ireland |
Tour Itinerary
Day 1:
On the Extreme Bus and we make our way out of the “smoke” and up into the Wicklow mountains, only an hour away from pick up. We will begin the day nice and easy-only messing! The first activity will be quad-biking (optional) outside of Roundwood in Wicklow. Experience the thrill and mud of riding around in the hills of Wicklow.
This should get your hunger up for a good lunch so with sore bums we make our way off to Laragh for a nice feed with Kathleen in the accommodation where we will be staying for your two nights. We are staying just minutes away from Glendalough, one on the most visited monastic sites in Ireland where St. Kevin lived happily for many years. Great stores we will tell you about his exploits.
After lunch you will be getting your walking shoes on and we will be doing a 3 hour walk around the holy valley of Glendalough. We will walk around the two lakes and up to the mining village where the remnants of the miners’ houses and their mines can still be seen and discovered today. We will follow the age old zig-zag route and up and over the Spink to get an awe inspiring view of the whole valley of Glendalough. When we get back to Glendalough we will discover the monastery and around it. Relax that evening and enjoy your dinner and a few drinks around a log fire in Laragh.
Day 2:
We hop on the bus and make our way over the Wicklow Gap otherwise known as the Brave Heart Drive and see where Mel got hand-fasted/married to that stunning woman, cant remember her name but she was lovely! Reign of Fire was also filmed in this area. We will view one of Irelands only hydroelectric power stations perched precariously on the top of Torlough Hill. Meander ourselves to Blessington where we will spend the morning kayaking in Blessington Lakes. Great way to wake up and I promise you I won’t splash you (as I whistle to myself).
I think this is the day that you should get introduced to Irish bog in an official capacity. We will walk in he bog while your guide tells you about its amazing wildlife, flora and fauna. You’ll be surprised what this dirt can do for your skin, health and warmth!
In the afternoon we will be going for a ride on the bikes around the lake. Lovely quiet roads and if it’s a nice day we can even stop at a beach on the other side and have a dip if you’re brave enough??? Seen many a man shrink after jumping into these waters…
Day 3:
The dreaded day where we all go back to the other reality. But let’s not forget it that quickly! We will make our way along the coast to Greystones where we will all walk along a cliff path to the village of Bray.
This is a fantastic relaxing walk to finish off your three days with fine views over the whole of Dublin Bay. Have a look over Dublin Bay and reminisce over the last couple of days and the friends you made. We will have lunch on the side of the cliff, hoping not to drop our sandwiches for the sea loins to eat.
After lunch we will make our way up to where the rich and famous live in Ireland. Might even get to see my house! Well, if you have a telescope and look over where these guys live, about 10 mile further on you’ll see my little cave!
But we will get to see where Bono and Enya live. Might even pop in for a cup of tea!
Lovely drive all the way into the city where we will talk a bit more about Dublin city and what makes it special.
After these three days are over you will be feeling sad. So no better way to say Goodbye than a pint our local in Temple Bar.
